Dear readers,
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned I was working on a new project. Well, here it is — my brand new editing site — Sue Archer, Wordsmith. I’m excited to share it here with all of you!
In addition to my day job, I have recently started up my own freelance editing business. Collaborating with self-publishing authors has been such a rewarding experience for me. I’d love to have the opportunity to work with some of you someday. 🙂
If you have the time and the interest, I’d appreciate it if you could visit my site and let me know what you think in the comments below. Please be honest — I consider it a work in progress. I have also started up a blog on my new site that will be focused on editing and self-publishing tips for writers. If you feel that’s something that would be useful for you, please feel free to follow.
Doorway Between Worlds won’t be changing – I’ll be continuing to blog about communication here, and I won’t be doing any more posts advertising my services.
And finally — in the spirit of “the big reveal,” I thought it was time that I showed all of you the real me behind the avatar:
Thank you to all of you for your support!
Sue
Congrats!
Your new site is looking really good!
Interesting, as I am working on my own .com @ th mo – maybe Bradscribe will get a separate .com but th blog should suffice for th time being.
Good job!
Cheers!

The site looks wonderful, Sue! Sounds like a venture perfectly suited to you. It’s nice to have an editing resource should I need it in the future. The editor for my last book has moved onto something else which means I have to move on too. 🙂

Thanks, Carrie! It’s been a great fit for me so far. Sorry to hear your editor has moved on – it’s so nice when you can establish a long-term relationship with someone you like to collaborate with.
And of course I’d love to work with you if if the stars ever align for us in the future. 🙂

I know thrillers weren’t listed as the genre you normally work with, but perhaps you’ll sometimes make exceptions? 🙂

For you, Carrie, anything. 🙂 Seriously, I would be open to working on a thriller, especially from someone who writes as well as you do!

Wow, Sue, this is FANTASTIC! Your site looks great–it’s appealing, clear, and direct, and you come across as very experienced and knowledgeable while also very down-to-earth. I love it! I will definitely recommend you to the next person I hear asking about editing services. WordPress still won’t let me “like” your posts, for some reason, but–I LIKE IT! 🙂

Thanks, Dan. It took me a while to find a theme that suited me – I think that’s the hardest part of the whole process!

****It looks great.
Of course I’d make a typo on a post about a new editing website. *Smacks forehead*

Don’t you hate it when that happens? Every time I make a typo I feel like my credibility as an editor is taking a hit. 😉 You’re not alone!

Congratulations, Sue. The website looks great – clean and professional. I like the navigation too, so writers know exactly where to go for the information they’re looking for 😀

Thanks, Mel! That’s great that you loved the navigation. It drives me crazy when I get to a site and I can’t find what I’m looking for.

I didn’t have time for a long look, but the new site looks suitably professional and easy to navigate, and it’s clear what it’s about from the front, so that’s the important things covered.

Many, many congratulations. I wish you all the best of luck with your new adventure. The new website looks very clean, very professional and I’m sure will attract a lot of interest. There’s one thing you might want to look at. The blogs are squashed to the left-hand side of the page (at least when I look at them). Other than that, the site looks great!

Hi, Dylan! Thanks for pointing out the squished look. This is a WordPress theme that supports Post Formats, which means that the default is to lay everything out in a grid. Because I only have one post it looks odd. I’m still experimenting with it. Obviously I also need to get more content up, which I will have soon!

Congratulations, Sue, on your new site! I like the library header photo, and the photo of the real you is lovely. I also like the simplicity of the new site and how it’s easy to navigate. The tab pages all opened up perfectly, except for the Blog page. The blog posts are all on the left third of the page, rather than full page. Congrats, again, on your new venture!

Hi Lori! Thank you so much for your support. I’m glad you liked the picture of the real me. 🙂 I’m still working with the Blog page – this theme supports Post Formats which means they lay them out in a grid. Once I have more content out there it should look much better! On to write more…

Okay, in truth, I think you should have named the site Sue Archer: Editor Extraordinaire! And there should be a few fireworks going off. Maybe the sound of a slot machine hitting the jackpot.
Too Hollywood?
Okay, professional works well too–which is precisely what you are, Sue. A perfect pro.
And yes, still extraordinary.
