After years of reading other people’s blogs, I’ve decided it’s finally time to write my own. I haven’t done one up until now, because I’m not a fan of writing a blog just for the sake of writing—there’s enough of that going around. But now I have an idea that I’m excited about. So here I am. Welcome to my blogworld! It’s great to meet you.

Throughout my life, I have collaborated with others on communications. I enjoy helping people with their presenting and writing skills. I work in the information technology field, and many of my colleagues struggle when writing documents. It’s a true challenge to write accurately, clearly, and concisely. Even those of us who love to write can’t see when we’re missing the mark. (That’s when it helps to have a good editor!)

My friends tell me I have a true knack for providing communication tips that are fun and useful. I enjoy sharing stories and examples that illustrate what I’m talking about. There’s a lot of boring manuals out there that tell us “the rules.” Well, some of those rules are not actually rules (surprise!), and it can be painful to figure out what really matters in communication. It should be easy, but it’s not.

This is where the fun comes in. I’m going to kick things up by using my favourite sci-fi and fantasy works to tell you what I’ve learned about communication. Whether you’re a huge fan of alternate universes or not, I hope you find this blog entertaining and informative.
